Ah Wednesday! I am really excited about this Wine Wednesday because A. It’s wine in a can and B. It’s cheap! I stubbled across Simpler Wines this past weekend at Trader Joe’s and decided to give it a try. G was quick to scoff at it saying that this will probably be the worst wine I have ever had, and I am so happy to be able to prove him wrong 🙂
He thought that this wine was produced by the same people who make Simpler Times Beer which he said was the worst beer that he has ever tasted, but this wine is actually produced by Trader Joe’s.
They have three different variations of this wine, the White that I tried, Rose and Peach. They come in a four pack and are only $3.99! For the price of this wine, I cannot believe how great it is. I had it on Sunday and usually will only have a glass but it was so good I had two cans! The White wine is so light and refreshing with a hint of sweetness. It is effervescent which I like and it would be the perfect drink for the summer. I highly recommend grabbing a four pack next time you are in Trader Joe’s.
Dress (Medium) | Similar Boots
Quick, get online at the Loft and order this dress! It is perfect for spring with the long sleeves and light weight fabric. I love the button details in the front with the tie around the waist and ruffle details at the shoulder. This dress is perfect for our crisp spring weather here in Colorado. I can see myself wearing this well into the summer and fall with these great transitional colors.
The best part of this dress is that it is only around $45 (with all sizes still available) and fits true to size.

This past weekend G and I checked out the free Saturday at the Denver Art Museum. It was so cool to be able to experience this museum for free over the weekend. They have a free day every first Saturday of the month. It is free to view all of the exhibits except for the exhibitions which currently is Degas ($24 extra) We decided to get there about an hour before it closed and it was still pretty busy.
They have a couple of really cool collections right now including Drawn to Glamour with several fashion illustrations and clothing displays. They also have Stampede where they showcase animals in art which was really cool as well.
I highly recommend checking out the first free Saturday at the art museum if you have the chance.
This weeks Wine Wednesday was a special selection by G and it is the Field Stone Merlot. This is one of his go to wines when we want something good but at an even better price. This wine comes in at just under $20 and we were able to pick it up at Molly’s.
What I like about this wine is how smooth it is. Sometimes with red wine I get an almost sour taste that makes it hard to drink, but I don’t get that with this wine. In the nose I get chocolate and vanilla hints with some blackberry. With the taste I again get a berry flavor with a hint of vanilla that really smooths it out.
We paired this wine with some burgers and a salad and it was perfect. I highly recommend grabbing a bottle or two of this wine if you see it at your local liquor store.
I would link the website, however the label was recently purchased by Kendall Jackson and it looks like they took down their website and the tasting room in Sonoma is closed. I am not sure what this means for the label but hopefully Kendall Jackson will keep the Field Stone name and wines.
With spring finally making its debut I thought it would be the perfect time to review my Burberry jacket. Since it is a light jacket I find myself reaching for it a lot more during these brisk spring mornings.
I had this jacket on my wish list for a while and it wasn’t until I found it on sale and had gift cards that I finally made the purchase. It was literally like the trifecta of shopping and I just couldn’t not get it, however this jacket is a huge investment.
I chose this lighter canvas color because I thought it was a good neutral that would go with everything and I already had a black leather jacket. I love this color and I am pretty careful with it so I haven’t had any issues with it showing dirt or having any stains.
I stayed true to size with the medium and it does fit me well and I am able to button it all the way up with some room to spare. The only issue I have is the boxy fit of it. The material is pretty stiff so it keeps its boxy shape, which for me is not that flattering. The sleeves are also a little short on me. While I could unroll the sleeves I really like the pop of plaid that it has when cuffed so I leave it as is and just ignore the shorter length.
Like I said this jacket is defiantly an investment piece, so if you were like me and just had to have it, then I would say wait for one of Nordstrom’s big sales as I have seen it marked down during that time. I would also recommend trying on a lot of different styles (which I failed to do) to see what style fits you best. This jacket is not made for all seasons and can really only be worn in those warmer spring or fall days so it is not the most versatile, however it is a classic piece that I know I will have for years to come.
How can I stay away from Chick-fil-A you ask? Well it’s because I have found an even better place! birdcall opened up in 2017 in the 5-Points neighborhood in Denver and has quickly become by favorite go to fast food joint. I liked how one employee put it “we accept everyone and are open on Sunday’s” I mean what is not to like?! I always find myself wanting a chicken sandwich on a Sunday while running errands. On top of their low key vibe they have incredible food and a really tech savvy ordering process.
They have employees that work there, however you place your order by swiping your credit card on the iPad and using that to place your order. You can make modifications to all of their chicken sandwiches and add on a combo of fries and a drink. What is awesome about this is that you can take your time with the ordering process and it saves your orders based off the credit card used, so when you go back it’s an easy process to order what you know you love again. My go to order is the original grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato and pickles with fries and a drink.
Once your order has been placed your name and wait time will show up on the monitor so you know exactly when your food will be ready. They will also send you a text message when your food is ready, if you are sitting outside and not in front of the monitor.
Since birdcall is locally owned they use locally sourced chicken which is really nice and not something that you will get from your local Chick-fil-A. They even parter with other restaurants like Rosenberg’s Bagels where they use their everything bagel as a bun.
I highly recommend checking out birdcall next time you have a chicken sandwich (or veggie sandwich) craving! They also have breakfast so you can go whenever the craving strikes!
Happy Wednesday! This week I have Matua, a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. I actually really like this wine. I have had it before and anytime we are in the liquor store i grab it.
What I like most about this wine is the price point. It is only around $10 and typically on sale. I think I picked this bad boy up for $6 at Molly’s . I also really love the taste. It is a little tart with some tropical fruit flavors.
I joked with G that I might have to buy a case of this since I love it so much and it is nice to have a lower priced wine on hand if you are having people over. I highly recommend this wine. I have their rose in my refrigerator that I also can’t wait to try.
G is taking over today to share his review of the Allbirds. These shoes have really blown up lately. I see them all over my office from the CEO to the finance guy. I gifted these to G for Christmas and he was stoked! He needed a new pair of casual athletic shoes for the weekend and these have fit the bill. So here is G’s official review:
What do you like best about them?
They are really comfortable. It’s like a comfy sweater for my foot! They are also lightweight and do not take up as much space in a suitcase as other shoes which helps for packing if you travel. They are also pretty versatile and you can dress them up or down due to the clean simple style of them.
Are their any cons or areas for improvement?
They collect dog fur which isn’t that big of a deal and you can easily wipe it off. Other than that there is nothing wrong with them or anything that I would want to change.
Would you recommend them?
Ya I would but I would not recommend wearing the slip on version out of the house.
I really like these shoes and from a women’s perspective I think that they look great on men of all ages. They also came out with a new style called Tree Runners which would be perfect for summer.

I can’t believe I forgot to post this when we went to San Diego! Stratford Court Cafe is a Del Mar staple and something I have grown up with. My grandfather would walk up to get coffee here every morning so I may be biased but I think it is a pretty special place.
My sister and I had breakfast there and I got the acai bowl with coffee (their regular black coffee in the nutty roast flavor is honestly the best I have every had) and my sister got their croissant sandwich. The acai bowl was really good and large, I couldn’t even finish it. My sisters sandwich looked amazing as well with cheese, egg and bacon in it.
Stratford Court Cafe is inside of a beautiful house and is walking distance to Del Mar beach so the location could not be any better. The price is pretty high, but then again the location cannot be beat so I think it is worth it, plus the portions are big and the food is very good quality. If you are ever in Del Mar, I highly recommend stoping by.
So I am back at it with the wine in a tube. I was crossing my fingers that this one would not be as bad as last week and luckily it was not! It had a really dark color when I poured it into my glass and smelled really sweet like peaches or pears. Chateau Saint-Martin really didn’t have that much flavor but would probably be good paired with a fettuccine alfreado.
While this wine was drinkable I don’t think I would recommend it just because I didn’t think it was very flavorful, but the great thing about these tubes was that I was able to try a glass of something new rather than committing to an entire bottle.
