This BB Cream has been my jam for the past couple of months. While it says moist and firm I find that it really mattes my skin. I have combination skin with a very oily t-zone but this stuff really keeps me matte all day. It also does not feel heavy at all and stays put. The added SPF is a real bonus and a little goes a long way, I use a little on my cheeks, forehead and chin and rub it in with my fingers. The best part is that IPKN is also only $33.
Wednesday is here and it’s time for another Wine Wednesday! This week I have selected the fancy AF Chateau Montelena. Just the name in itself sounds classy. Chardonnay is my wine of choice and I had high hopes for this higher end one.
I got a lot of butterscotch and vanilla on the nose and it does have that buttery oaky flavor that I love. I did however get a little bit of tart which was disappointing. I think for the price point you can find a wine that is just as good at a much lower cost. I would actually prefer the cheaper Harken wine over this one. This one is good, but I just question the price point.
Happy Monday! Hope your weekend was full of fun.I decided to bust out the Madewell Overalls on Sunday. I have heard that many people size down but I decided to stick with my regular size medium and I like the fit. There are also some dupes out there that look very similar for a fraction of the price (here).
Styling my overalls has been somewhat of a challenge but I really like them with this floral Forever 21 shirt (similar options here and here). I also really love pairing them with my Franco Sarto booties. These booties go with so much and are the perfect color. I wear them all the time. And they are on major sale so score!
I have been a die hard Lululemon fan for years. Convinced that there were no other leggings and work out gear that would match Lulu’s quality, so I wouldn’t even consider other brands. Then I got an Athleta gift card.
I received a $50 gift card and thought that I would for sure be able to find some things especially on sale. Well I was quickly proven wrong when I noticed that their price point is right in line with Lululemon which was surprising from a brand that is connected with Old Navy and the Gap.
I was able to find this t-shirt and leggings. They were having a sale so I received an extra 20% off of sale price which brought this entire outfit to right around $60.
As far as the leggings go, I need high waisted which these are. I noticed that as I was doing more jumping around or burpees that they did tend to fall down and I had to adjust them a lot. I did however like that that whatever material they are made out of does not attract dog hair which was a plus. I highly recommend sizing down in these. I bought a small and I am usually a medium or 6.
The shirt is really nice. The material is soft and long enough to slightly cover your back side. I also bought a small in this one.
All in all I was not blown away with Athleta and would honestly probably stick with Lululemon, especially since Athleta’s price point is the same. Had Athleta came in with a lower price point I would probably convert.
Welcome to the biggest Wine Wednesday yet! Today I am going to review the 5 liter bottle of Centine. G’s grandfather took us for a liquor run over the holidays and we spotted this bottle in the store on sale for just about $60. G’s grandfather graciously gave us this for Christmas and we have been waiting to break it out. We decided that a random Saturday night with friends was the perfect time.
We were a little worried that a bottle this size would lack in flavor but we were proven wrong. This Super Tuscan was delightful and an easy drinking, food friendly wine. While this wine will not go on to win awards for its incredible taste, it will certainly be a crowed pleaser. Several people commented that they were surprised that they enjoyed it as much as they did. A bottle this size is a fun and unexpected thing to bring to someones house which made it really fun and great for pictures. Do be warned that it is 6.667 regular sized bottles of wine so make sure you have a sizable group to help you drink it.
I always keep my eye out now for deals on these large bottles and I would encourage you to as well.
Happy Monday! I got lucky and have the day off for Presidents Day so Charlie and I are snuggled up on the couch trying to stay warm while watching Will and Grace re-runs 🙂
Before the chilly weather rolled in G and I decided to head out to Broadway street to check out some of the antique shops. We still need some wall decor in our house so I thought it would be fun to check out the antique shops to see if we could find some unique pieces.
We just parked on Broadway and started walking down the street to check out the shops. Since it was Sunday most places were closed. They hold strange hours but I would suggest going on a Saturday. Some places were appointment only. We ended up going to about 3 different shops and all had tons of stuff so we got our fix of antiques.
We unfortunately did not find anything for the house, but we had so much fun looking around. I could spend all day in these shops if I could. I would highly recommend stopping by if you have a free afternoon. Broadway also has lots of coffee shops and breweries that you can stop into for a drink.
Outfit details: jeans, shirt, shoes, bag
Happy Friday! Today I thought I would share my weekend look. This outfit is pretty much what you can find me wearing on any given weekend if the temps are a little on the cooler side. The layers are perfect for our ever changing Colorado weather.
Pants – Love these leggings! Everyone raves about them for a reason and I think they are a must have! I am wearing a size medium.
Jacket – I have had this jacket forever, and it is a closet staple. I find myself reaching for it with almost every outfit, it is so versatile. Mine is real leather and had held up so well. It is also surprisingly warm. I can wear it to and from the office in the snow and still stay pretty warm. Real leather jacket option, Faux leather jacket option.
Shirt – Oh the chambray shirt! Why is it so hard to find one that is the perfect color and fit?! This one from H&M is almost perfect but I am still on the hunt for one that is just right for me.
Shoes – OK I love these shoes! They look good with everything! I love being able to throw them on and be cute and comfy. Just beware that there is a break in period (they tore up my heels when I first got them).
Have a good weekend!
Happy Valentines Day! I hope you are doing something fun to celebrate and for this week’s Wine Wednesday I wanted to share an amazing Pinot Noir from Evesham Wood that could pair well with a little Valentines Day dinner.
This wine comes from Salem, Oregon and I found it to be very approachable. The winery was founded in 1986 and their new tasting cabin looks pretty dreamy if you ever find yourself in the area. If you do not know already, I am more of a white wine chick but I found this wine really enjoyable. I tasted some berries upfront and didn’t find it to be too bold or overpowering. It was a great dinner wine that is right around $25.
We paired this wine with our usual Saturday night salmon dinner with Brussels Sprouts and bread. I would highly recommend it!
Hope everyone has a great weekend! G and I decided to venture up to Dillon, Colorado to check out the Ice Castles. We were watching the local news one night and heard about these castles made out of ice and they looked awesome.
Make sure you purchase your tickets in advance from their website ($16 per person for adults) and you will be asked to pick a time slot. Unfortunately we had a minor car issue (shout out to the guy that pulled us out of the snow!) and didn’t make it there until a half hour after our allotted time. Luckily they were really relaxed with ticket times and they let us right in.
The castles were pretty crowded for a Sunday evening but still really cool to see. We got there at dusk which I thought was the perfect time to go because you got to see it in the light and when they turned on the colored lights in the dark. Plus it was really cold so I’m glad we were there when we still had some sunlight.
They are open until February 24th so you still have time to go and I highly recommend it. There were lots of adults without kids so it’s not just a kid thing (they even have an adult ice slide that G was very into). They have other locations around North America so check out the website to see if they are near you.
Jacket (mine is from J Crew Factory but here is another option), Jeans, Shoes (so warm!), Sweater (mine is old from h&m but here is a similar option), Hat (mine is from Nordstrom Rack but here are some options. I highly recommend a cashmere one to make it less itchy.)
If you drive by too fast you just might miss this little gem on Colfax. To The Wind Bistro is a tiny 10 table restaurant, but the food is incredible! I was told to get there early since they do not take reservations, are only open for dinner and have very limited seating. I made G get there at 4:45 since I was starved and wanted to make sure we got the first seating. I am not sure if it was just that particular night, or if Friday nights are not that busy, but the place didn’t fill up until about 7.
The menu changes seasonally and they start you out with their homemade peanuts which were unique but delicious. G and I shared the Cornmeal Waffle (which is a menu staple), and the Roasted Quail. I was a little nervous about the quail being too gamey but it was actually really good and would highly recommend it.
For the entires G got the Salmon and I got the chicken. Both were amazing and filling. We commented at the end of our meal that we were very happy with the portions. Sometimes when we go to a fancier place we feel like the food is awesome but the portions are so small and sometimes we leave wanting more. Not the case here, we were stuffed!
We finished off our dinning experience with some tea, coffee and the bread pudding. We each also had a couple of glasses of wine and our total bill came out to about $150.
I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood to try something new and tasty. The atmosphere was totally relaxed and not stuffy at all. Jeans were appropriate and below is what I wore.
Jeans, Boots (under $30!), Sweater (mine was bought in store at Nordstrom Rack a while back but here is a good option)
