Wine Wednesday | Harken Chardonnay

This past weekend we went over to a friends house for dinner and decided to bring along this Harken Chardonnay from Molly’s Spirits in Denver. It was such a great deal at only $11.

Just as the label says, it is a nice buttery Chardonnay. This is my favorite style of wine as opposed to the steely and tart Chardonnay that you often find. This wine did not disappoint and was the perfect appetizer wine to sip on while we enjoyed some veggies, chips and homemade salsa from our gracious hosts. I highly recommend picking this wine up if you enjoy a buttery Chardonnay as much as I do.

Work Wear Round Up

Work Week 1-30

Here is a round up of my work outfits from the past week. My office is very casual so really anything except for ripped jeans and shorts go. My personal favorite look this week was my striped t-shirt and bell bottom jeans. I felt so cute and Paris chic!

Outfit 1: Jeans, Similar Shirt (mine was from Nordstrom Rack purchased a while ago), Puff Shoes (on major sale but they are not very comfortable, there is a break in period).

Outfit 2: ShirtShoes (on sale and weatherproof, highly recommend!).

Outfit 3: Dress (mine is from The Limited from a while ago and need a new one. This looks like a good option), Necklace, Tights, Shoes.

Outfit 4: Shirt (couldn’t find the exact one online but I bought it in the store), Jeans, Shoes (bought on Poshmark so check there first).

A Fashionable Hound

Charlie has often been told that he is one good looking hound, so I thought I would share his fashion secret with everyone, bandanas! I love searching the internet for fun and unique bandanas. I first got the idea when I saw that Chelsea Handler always has her Chow’s in them and I thought they looked so cute.

When we got Charlie two years ago we started his collection. We have even started hunting for bandanas when we travel to bring him back a souvenir and remind us of a fun trip. When he was a puppy we did have issues with him chewing on the ends when he would get bored, but he eventually grew out of that and now he wears them 24-7 (except for at the dog park or doggie day care).  I swear that he likes it better when he has one on and when you look good, you feel good!

They also make really cute gifts for people who just got a pup or if you are going over to someones house who has a dog.

Here are some of Charlie’s preferred bandana companies:

Willowear – They have great packaging that is standard so they are ready to go gifts.

Wagged – This company also donates a meal to a dog for every bandana that is sold.

Wine Wednesday | Bodacious Red Blend

1:28 Bodacious 2

This weeks Wine Wednesday is Bodacious 2014 from Jon Nathaniel Wines in Napa Valley. I was actually given this bottle as a gift from a colleague and was eager to try it. It retails for $60. This is a much higher price point then I usually go for but the wine was great and I think worth the price. This would be a good bottle to gift to an older family member or friend that appreciates fine wine. I actually often find myself in search of a good bottle of wine that is not $20 to give as gifts so I was happy to find this. Now that I am in my 30’s I feel like brining a bottle of $3 Chuck to a gathering is unacceptable 🙂

I typically do not gravitate to red wines and would chose white if given the choice, but I really did like this red. It is a blend with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. I got a lot of ripe and juicy fruits on the front end and found it to be very approachable, easy drinking, food-friendly wine.

Paired with filet mignon, Brussels sprouts and couscous.

Workwear Dinner Dress

1:28 dress with purse

Typically jeans and a nice blouse are perfect for my office, however once a year we have a celebratory dinner where we get a chance to dress up. I was struggling to find an office appropriate outfit until I found this dress! This navy fit and flare dress is the perfect cut for my body type and has an eyelet detail on the sleeve that makes it stand out. Rather than pairing it with a traditional heel, I decided that my dupe Rockstud’s would take this classic dress to an edgy level. I received so many compliments from both men and women and I can’t wait to re-style this dress again soon!

Dress – I purchased it for $42 in store during one of their sales. Keep checking the website for a sale because they have one pretty much every week it seems.

Shoes – I bought these ages ago from Stein Mart for $20 (such a good find!) but here are some similar options. Option 1, Option 2.

Valentines Day Wish List

Here are some things that I have my eye on that would make a perfect valentines day gift (did you hear that G?).

  1. Everyone and their mom has this Free People Bralette but I still need it.
  2. Again everyone and their mom and maybe their hip grandma has his necklace but such a cute and classic piece.
  3. Everyone can use a new book and I heard this one is really good!
  4. A classic beret with a twist!
  5. I need a new spot treatment and this one looks like it could be good. Not romantic but certainly necessary.
  6. A cute eyelet blouse that will get you ready for spring.

Wine Wednesday | White Wine in a Can

Wine in a can has always intrigued me.  Was it something that I was totally missing out on? Well my questions were answered when I headed over to Molly’s Spirits to check it out for myself. I decided to stick with white wine and selected Infinite Monkey Theorem White Wine, Underwood Riesling Radler, The Great Oregon Wine Company Pinot Grigio and Frico Sparking Italian Wine.  All of these wines were around $3 per can and sold individually so you don’t have to commit to an entire six-pack which I appreciated. IMG_4129 Underwood Riesling Radler:

This wine not only had the prettiest can, but it was also interesting as it was more of a wine cocktail. It was only 3% alcohol which makes it perfect for a brunch or afternoon drink. It was very refreshing and a little on the sweeter side. I typically do not like sweet drinks but I did like this wine, I would recommend it.

Infinite Monkey Theorem White Wine:

This wine is made right in my hood, so I really wanted to like it. I loved the packaging with the sleek black thin can. It was a little sweeter than I would normally like with some hints of pineapple. It was sweeter than the Frico wine, but definitely drinkable and again reminded me of a day drinking wine at a backyard BBQ. If you like wines that are on the sweeter side then I would recommend it.

The Great Oregon Wine Company Pinot Grigio:

This was the smallest of the four cans and 1 can=1 glass of wine. This wine was crisp, fresh and again great for a summer BBQ. It must be the can that makes me think of being outdoors. It is a little tart and sweet at the same time, but after the first couple of sips I found that it mellowed out and was really enjoyable. I thought this wine would be perfect to serve to a group of people at your house without having to worry about plastic wine cups or glasses.

Frico Sparkling Italian Wine:

I saved the best for last! This was my favorite out of the four. It was crisp, dry and had that effervescent flavor that completed the package. I would highly recommend this wine for anyone that does not like sweet wine and wants to keep it classy at your next house party or afternoon in the park.

What I am Loving | Face and Eye Cream

These winter months can be brutal on my skin, but I have finally found a night cream that is keeping me in good shape! Bee Friendly Face and Eye Cream has been my go to now for the past two months. I just repurchased it which is why I decided to share. I will usually get really dry patches on my face and since using this I have not seen any of that.

I was looking for something that was really moisturizing as well as something that was all natural and I came across Bee Friendly on Amazon. It is a small jar of cream for $25, however the one jar has lasted for the past two months. A little does go a long way and since it is all natural (I can actually read all of the ingredients on the label!) I think it is worth the price.
