Men’s Allbirds Review

IMG_4780

G is taking over today to share his review of the Allbirds. These shoes have really blown up lately. I see them all over my office from the CEO to the finance guy. I gifted these to G for Christmas and he was stoked! He needed a new pair of casual athletic shoes for the weekend and these have fit the bill. So here is G’s official review:

What do you like best about them?

They are really comfortable. It’s like a comfy sweater for my foot! They are also lightweight and do not take up as much space in a suitcase as other shoes which helps for packing if you travel. They are also pretty versatile and you can dress them up or down due to the clean simple style of them.

Are their any cons or areas for improvement?

They collect dog fur which isn’t that big of a deal and you can easily wipe it off. Other than that there is nothing wrong with them or anything that I would want to change.

Would you recommend them?

Ya I would but I would not recommend wearing the slip on version out of the house.

I really like these shoes and from a women’s perspective I think that they look great on men of all ages. They also came out with a new style called Tree Runners which would be perfect for summer.

Spring Jumpsuit

IMG_4770

Shoes | Similar Jacket

I am a jumpsuit lover! I love how easy and put together they make you look. I don’t know why people are so worried about the bathroom situation in jumpsuits? I mean you are alone in the bathroom stall anyways or just hold it! You have to make sacrifices for fashion people!

Anyways I am pretty sure this is supposed to worn to bed but honestly I don’t care. The fabric is super soft (like literally so soft) and the color is so versatile. I wore it on Sunday when we walked to brunch (at Stowaway again!) and ran some errands. It is also ideal for travel days. I wore it on my way to San Diego and it was so cozy for the flight. They sadly don’t have it online anymore but they have a shorts version. I would get a medium in the shorts but I sized down to a small in the pants. Old Navy also has some really cute jumpsuits right now too.

San Diego | Belching Beaver Brewery

IMG_4597

Top (size down) | Shoes (true to size)

Happy Monday! This past weekend G and I made a weekend trip to San Diego and I wanted to recap my favorite outfit and brewery that we visited. My sister and I made a quick stop over at Old Navy where I spotted these camo pants. I have been on the hunt for a good pair of camo pants and had a hard time finding anything. I went into the dressing room with little confidence that these would work, but to my surprise they surpassed my expectations! They fit like a glove in my usual size 6. They have a little bit of a stretch and hit right at my ankle. I highly recommend these pants and they are currently on sale!

In the afternoon we went over to Belching Beaver Brewery in Vista and had a pint of their Peanut Butter Milk Stout on Nitro. This beer was amazing! It literally tasted like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in beer form. It is a must try if you visit. It is pretty heavy and rich so I would recommend getting a taster size or sharing a full pour with someone. They have lots of other beer as well so everyone is sure to find something. The inside was pretty crowded when we were there but the outside patio is really nice and even though it was raining they have lots of covered space and heaters.

Wine Wednesday | Infinite Monkey Theorem

IMG_4510.jpg

This week Wine Wednesday is about the Infinite Monkey Theorem Wine Bar in Rino. This place is literally walking distance from my house which means I am kicking myself for waiting 3 years to check it out! This is my face wondering why I have not checked this place out before!

This weekend we finally had some spring weather so G and I decided to go out on Friday night for a drink and dinner. We stopped into the IMT and were immediately asked by the bartender what we would like to drink. Their service was awesome! You can sample anything prior to ordering a full glass and they are super helpful in asking you questions to figure out what they think you might like best. G got the Cabernet Franc and I got the Sauvignon Blanc. Our bill was under $25 which is not too bad and on Monday’s they have all day happy hour!

IMG_4541.jpg

We both agreed that the atmosphere was super relaxed and the dark lighting made it feel really chill, not stuffy winery vibes here. Will the wine win any awards, probably not, but it is perfect for a low key night. I would highly recommend checking out this wine or the winery if you are in the mood for some wine. They also have a  food truck in case you get hungry.

Why have one when you can have two?! 🙂

IMG_4511

For my outfit I kept it super casual, because A. That’s Denver and B. We were walking. Camo jacket that again I wore all weekend (similar one here), Jeans, t-shirt, shoes.

Cheers!

Home & Garden Show

IMG_4548

Another Monday, another post! This past weekend we were adulting really hard and went to the 2018 Colorado Garden & Home show. Our backyard is literally dirt so we thought we would check out the show to hopefully get some ideas on what to do with our dirt patch.

IMG_4553

I would suggest going into the show with something in mind that you want to check out. There are a ton of vendors and it is easy to get overwhelmed or just lost in all the stuff. We knew that we were really interested in seeing artificial turf for our front and back yard so that is what we were on the hunt for. I really wanted to get some information from vendors so that I can get people to come out and get us some quotes. We were in luck and there were a few vendors that we were able to get information from.

IMG_4520.jpg

There were really cool displays that made you want that dream backyard. I thought it was cool and a fun way to spend a couple of hours over the weekend.

For my outfit I kept it simple. I literally wore that camo jacket all weekend (similar one), AG legging jeans (cut the hem at the bottom to get my desired length), and my Tieks.

Have a good week!

Overall Monday’s Are Not So Bad

IMG_4463

Happy Monday! Hope your weekend was full of fun.I decided to bust out the Madewell Overalls on Sunday. I have heard that many people size down but I decided to stick with my regular size medium and I like the fit. There are also some dupes out there that look very similar for a fraction of the price (here).

Styling my overalls has been somewhat of a challenge but I really like them with this floral Forever 21 shirt (similar options here and here). I also really love pairing them with my Franco Sarto booties. These booties go with so much and are the perfect color. I wear them all the time. And they are on major sale so score!

Athleta Review

I have been a die hard Lululemon fan for years. Convinced that there were no other leggings and work out gear that would match Lulu’s quality, so I wouldn’t even consider other brands. Then I got an Athleta gift card.

IMG_4451

I received a $50 gift card and thought that I would for sure be able to find some things especially on sale. Well I was quickly proven wrong when I noticed that their price point is right in line with Lululemon which was surprising from a brand that is connected with Old Navy and the Gap.

I was able to find this t-shirt and leggings. They were having a sale so I received an extra 20% off of sale price which brought this entire outfit to right around $60.

As far as the leggings go, I need high waisted which these are. I noticed that as I was doing more jumping around or burpees that they did tend to fall down and I had to adjust them a lot. I did however like that that whatever material they are made out of does not attract dog hair which was a plus. I highly recommend sizing down in these. I bought a small and I am usually a medium or 6.

The shirt is really nice. The material is soft and long enough to slightly cover your back side. I also bought a small in this one.

All in all I was not blown away with Athleta and would honestly probably stick with Lululemon, especially since Athleta’s price point is the same. Had Athleta came in with a lower price point I would probably convert.

Casual Weekend Chic

IMG_4368

Happy Friday! Today I thought I would share my weekend look. This outfit is pretty much what you can find me wearing on any given weekend if the temps are a little on the cooler side. The layers are perfect for our ever changing Colorado weather.

IMG_4367.jpg

Pants – Love these leggings! Everyone raves about them for a reason and I think they are a must have! I am wearing a size medium.

Jacket – I have had this jacket forever, and it is a closet staple. I find myself reaching for it with almost every outfit, it is so versatile. Mine is real leather and had held up so well. It is also surprisingly warm. I can wear it to and from the office in the snow and still stay pretty warm. Real leather jacket optionFaux leather jacket option.

Shirt – Oh the chambray shirt! Why is it so hard to find one that is the perfect color and fit?! This one from H&M is almost perfect but I am still on the hunt for one that is just right for me.

Shoes – OK I love these shoes! They look good with everything! I love being able to throw them on and be cute and comfy. Just beware that there is a break in period (they tore up my heels when I first got them).

Have a good weekend!

Ice Castles

IMG_4397

Hope everyone has a great weekend! G and I decided to venture up to Dillon, Colorado to check out the Ice Castles. We were watching the local news one night and heard about these castles made out of ice and they looked awesome.

IMG_4401

Make sure you purchase your tickets in advance from their website ($16 per person for adults) and you will be asked to pick a time slot. Unfortunately we had a minor car issue (shout out to the guy that pulled us out of the snow!) and didn’t make it there until a half hour after our allotted time. Luckily they were really relaxed with ticket times and they let us right in.

The castles were pretty crowded for a Sunday evening but still really cool to see. We got there at dusk which I thought was the perfect time to go because you got to see it in the light and when they turned on the colored lights in the dark. Plus it was really cold so I’m glad we were there when we still had some sunlight.

IMG_4398

They are open until February 24th so you still have time to go and I highly recommend it. There were lots of adults without kids so it’s not just a kid thing (they even have an adult ice slide that G was very into). They have other locations around North America so check out the website to see if they are near you.

IMG_4395

Jacket (mine is from J Crew Factory but here is another option), Jeans, Shoes (so warm!), Sweater (mine is old from h&m but here is a similar option), Hat (mine is from Nordstrom Rack but here are some options. I highly recommend a cashmere one to make it less itchy.)

Denver Eats | To The Wind Bistro

IMG_4297

If you drive by too fast you just might miss this little gem on Colfax. To The Wind Bistro is a tiny 10 table restaurant, but the food is incredible! I was told to get there early since they do not take reservations, are only open for dinner and have very limited seating. I made G get there at 4:45 since I was starved and wanted to make sure we got the first seating. I am not sure if it was just that particular night, or if Friday nights are not that busy, but the place didn’t fill up until about 7. IMG_4278

The menu changes seasonally and they start you out with their homemade peanuts which were unique but delicious. G and I shared the Cornmeal Waffle (which is a menu staple), and the Roasted Quail. I was a little nervous about the quail being too gamey but it was actually really good and would highly recommend it.

For the entires G got the Salmon and I got the chicken. Both were amazing and filling. We commented at the end of our meal that we were very happy with the portions. Sometimes when we go to a fancier place we feel like the food is awesome but the portions are so small and sometimes we leave wanting more. Not the case here, we were stuffed!

We finished off our dinning experience with some tea, coffee and the bread pudding. We each also had a couple of glasses of wine and our total bill came out to about $150.

I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood to try something new and tasty. The atmosphere was totally relaxed and not stuffy at all. Jeans were appropriate and below is what I wore.
