This weeks Wine Wednesday was a special selection by G and it is the Field Stone Merlot. This is one of his go to wines when we want something good but at an even better price. This wine comes in at just under $20 and we were able to pick it up at Molly’s.
What I like about this wine is how smooth it is. Sometimes with red wine I get an almost sour taste that makes it hard to drink, but I don’t get that with this wine. In the nose I get chocolate and vanilla hints with some blackberry. With the taste I again get a berry flavor with a hint of vanilla that really smooths it out.
We paired this wine with some burgers and a salad and it was perfect. I highly recommend grabbing a bottle or two of this wine if you see it at your local liquor store.
I would link the website, however the label was recently purchased by Kendall Jackson and it looks like they took down their website and the tasting room in Sonoma is closed. I am not sure what this means for the label but hopefully Kendall Jackson will keep the Field Stone name and wines.
This week’s Wine Wednesday is brought to you by wine in a tube! I have never seen wine like this before, but it is so cool looking! My mom picked it up from Galco’s Old World Soda Shop in Los Angeles for $10 a tube. I decided to try out the Chateau Des Matards and it did not disappoint! It was really hearty and earthy and a red wine that I could get behind. It was complex with a fruity flavor on the front and a little spice on the end.
I highly recommend picking up some tube wine if you see it or are in the Los Angeles area and can stop by Galco’s. One tube equals one glass of wine and they are easy to transport if you are going somewhere that requires a glass of wine.
This week Wine Wednesday is about the Infinite Monkey Theorem Wine Bar in Rino. This place is literally walking distance from my house which means I am kicking myself for waiting 3 years to check it out! This is my face wondering why I have not checked this place out before!
This weekend we finally had some spring weather so G and I decided to go out on Friday night for a drink and dinner. We stopped into the IMT and were immediately asked by the bartender what we would like to drink. Their service was awesome! You can sample anything prior to ordering a full glass and they are super helpful in asking you questions to figure out what they think you might like best. G got the Cabernet Franc and I got the Sauvignon Blanc. Our bill was under $25 which is not too bad and on Monday’s they have all day happy hour!
We both agreed that the atmosphere was super relaxed and the dark lighting made it feel really chill, not stuffy winery vibes here. Will the wine win any awards, probably not, but it is perfect for a low key night. I would highly recommend checking out this wine or the winery if you are in the mood for some wine. They also have a food truck in case you get hungry.
Why have one when you can have two?! 🙂
For my outfit I kept it super casual, because A. That’s Denver and B. We were walking. Camo jacket that again I wore all weekend (similar one here), Jeans, t-shirt, shoes.
Wednesday is here and it’s time for another Wine Wednesday! This week I have selected the fancy AF Chateau Montelena. Just the name in itself sounds classy. Chardonnay is my wine of choice and I had high hopes for this higher end one.
I got a lot of butterscotch and vanilla on the nose and it does have that buttery oaky flavor that I love. I did however get a little bit of tart which was disappointing. I think for the price point you can find a wine that is just as good at a much lower cost. I would actually prefer the cheaper Harken wine over this one. This one is good, but I just question the price point.
Happy Valentines Day! I hope you are doing something fun to celebrate and for this week’s Wine Wednesday I wanted to share an amazing Pinot Noir from Evesham Wood that could pair well with a little Valentines Day dinner.
This wine comes from Salem, Oregon and I found it to be very approachable. The winery was founded in 1986 and their new tasting cabin looks pretty dreamy if you ever find yourself in the area. If you do not know already, I am more of a white wine chick but I found this wine really enjoyable. I tasted some berries upfront and didn’t find it to be too bold or overpowering. It was a great dinner wine that is right around $25.
We paired this wine with our usual Saturday night salmon dinner with Brussels Sprouts and bread. I would highly recommend it!
This past weekend we went over to a friends house for dinner and decided to bring along this Harken Chardonnay from Molly’s Spirits in Denver. It was such a great deal at only $11.
Just as the label says, it is a nice buttery Chardonnay. This is my favorite style of wine as opposed to the steely and tart Chardonnay that you often find. This wine did not disappoint and was the perfect appetizer wine to sip on while we enjoyed some veggies, chips and homemade salsa from our gracious hosts. I highly recommend picking this wine up if you enjoy a buttery Chardonnay as much as I do.
